The city is located at latitude 23°30' N and longitude 92°.15' E. To the east of Aizawl lies Champhai district, to the north lies Kolasib district, to the south Serchhip district and to the west lies Mamit district. The Tlawng river valley lies to the west and the Tuirial river valley lies to the east of Aizawl.
